Two ORF culture and documentary productions receive Gold awards at the WorldMediaFestivals in Berlin, highlighting international recognition for Austrian storytelling.

AUSTRIA/GERMANY – At the WorldMediaFestivals 2026 in Berlin, two ORF productions were honored with multiple awards. Among the winners are the cultural documentary “Sound and Color – The Reinvention of Parov Stelar” and the ORF Universum Nature co‑production “Austria’s Greatest Mountain – The Grossglockner”. Each received an intermedia‑globe Award in Gold in the Documentary category.

The WorldMediaFestivals are a globally recognized competition based in Berlin, celebrating outstanding film and video productions across television, streaming, and corporate media. The Gold awards underline the strong international resonance of ORF’s cultural and natural history documentaries and the continuing success of high‑quality European co‑productions.

CREATIVE EVOLUTION AND ALPINE TRANSFORMATION

The documentary “Sound and Color – The Reinvention of Parov Stelar” explores the artistic transformation of Austrian musician and visual artist Parov Stelar. Widely regarded as the pioneer of the electroswing genre, Parov Stelar, born Marcus Füreder, has shaped an internationally influential sound. The documentary goes beyond his musical success, tracing his evolution as a painter, designer, and multidisciplinary artist. Centered on his project “Artifact,” the film presents a cinematic journey inspired by the pioneers of the silent‑film era and the masters of Pop Art, offering insight into the origins and ongoing reinvention of his creative work.

“Austria’s Greatest Mountain – The Grossglockner” examines Austria’s highest mountain as a symbol of both natural grandeur and environmental change. From its geological origins millions of years ago to today’s rapidly shifting alpine ecosystems, the ORF Universum Nature documentary follows the Grossglockner and its surrounding habitats as they confront the accelerating effects of climate change. Through striking imagery and close observation of alpine wildlife living more than 3,000 meters above sea level, the film captures the fragile balance between ice, rock, flora, fauna, and human presence in one of Europe’s most iconic mountain landscapes.

Both award‑winning documentaries are distributed worldwide by ORF‑Enterprise.
