The Austrian documentary “The Scent of the Alps – Natural Cosmetics from Austria” has received the Silver Trophy in the Docu Competition category “Conscious Consumption and Eco-Labels” at the internationally renowned Deauville Green Awards.

AUSTRIA/FRANCE – ORF-Enterprise is pleased to announce that the documentary “The Scent of the Alps” has been awarded the Silver Trophy in the Docu Competition category “Conscious Consumption and Eco-Labels” at the Deauville Green Awards. The documentary was directed by Alexander Schukoff and produced by Alexander Schukoff-Film in association with ORF III.

The Deauville Green Awards have established themselves as one of the leading international festivals dedicated to ecology and social responsibility in audiovisual media. Each year, more than 500 productions from around the world compete across three competition section. The festival brings together professionals from the environmental, communication and audiovisual industries, including producers, broadcasters, advertisers and sustainability experts.

“The Scent of the Alps – Natural Cosmetics from Austria” was recognized by the festival’s international jury of audiovisual and environmental professionals for its exploration of Austria’s independent cosmetics industry, where sustainability, craftsmanship and regional production are reshaping the beauty sector. 

The documentary shows how Austria is developing its own sustainable cosmetics industry, different from big international brands. The documentary visits Alpine landscapes, gardens, workshops, and libraries, where local makers use herbs, minerals, milk, and bee products to create natural skincare and perfumes. It reveals how these ingredients are turned into cosmetics, the art of perfume making, and even includes insights from Leonardo da Vinci that are still important today. The film highlights the mix of tradition and innovation, and the focus on nature and responsibility in modern beauty products.
