Set during a glamorous house party that ends in murder, the six-episode series follows Inspector Oliver Jones, a detective with an extraordinary ability: he can communicate with the dead. As he investigates the crime, Jones becomes entangled within a wealthy family in which everyone harbors secrets – and no one reveals the full truth.
The series features an international cast led by Amanda Abbington (Sherlock), alongside Rafael Morais, José Pimentão as Inspector Jones, and Laura Dutra as Júlia, the victim. “JONES” is co-produced by Caracol Studios and RTP, in association with ORF-Enterprise, and supported by the Tourism and Cinema Fund of Portugal. The series is distributed worldwide by ORF-Enterprise.
Following the screening of the first two episodes, Gascon was joined by Rafael Morais and producer Joana Domingues for a Q&A session with industry attendees. Domingues emphasized the project’s strong international ambition, supported by its bilingual format and by Abbington’s increasingly central role as the series progresses, including an episode told entirely from her character’s point of view.
“With JONES, we set out to create a mysterious and thrilling journey, inviting viewers into a world where neither the living nor the dead tell the whole truth,” says Bruno Gascon, director of JONES.
The market premiere offered industry attendees an exclusive first look at the series’ distinctive visual style and narrative tone, generating strong interest among international partners and highlighting the project’s global market potential.
