HONORED FOR A UNIQUE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE PAST

A Theater for a Symphony” takes viewers back over 200 years to Vienna’s historical “Kärntnertortheater”, where Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony premiered. Through stunning 3D technology, the documentary brings the theater, that was demolished in 1870, back to life and explores the captivating creation of Beethoven’s masterpiece. The film takes on the chaotic premiere, interviews musicologists and offers insights from Beethoven’s so-called “Conversation Books”, containing invaluable records of his life and thoughts. The film concludes with the Wiener Akademie Orchestra performing the “Ode to Joy” from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on a digitally recreated stage of the historic Kärntnertortheater.
