Anders Widmark, celebrated Swedish jazz pianist and composer, known for blending unexpecting genres of music, has earned critical acclaim and a dedicated following over his decades-long career. His legacy endures through his timeless music.

As the world mourns the loss of Anders Widmark, who passed away on November 26, 2024, his remarkable life and legacy are celebrated. Throughout his successful career, Anders Widmark was celebrated for his unique ability to blend jazz with classical elements, creating a sound that was both timeless and contemporary. His contributions to music were not limited to his performances, as he was an inventive composer, whose works have been performed by orchestras and ensembles around the globe. His compositions, characterized by their lyrical beauty and complex harmonies, will continue to inspire musicians and audiences alike.

Anders Widmark – A Jazz Piano Recital

In January 2024, Anders Widmark performed two sold-out live shows at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, which were filmed and condensed into the half-hour TV concert. The program showcased his sensitive touch and personal musical imagination, featuring improvised jazz variations on themes from Bizet’s opera Carmen, well-known pop and jazz songs, and his original composition “May 30”.

To Be Anders Widmark

The documentary offers a deeper look into the life of this extraordinary musician. Directed by Peter Östlund, documentary explores Widmark’s natural musicality and how it influenced his everyday life. The film is rich with music, providing viewers with an intimate journey into Widmark’s world. Östlund aimed to answer questions about the origins of Widmark’s musical gift and its impact on his life.

Weather To Remember

Widmark’s creative talents extended into the realm of film with this absurd family comedy about musical dreams and constant compromises. The comedy follows a script writer pitching a movie idea to a film commissioner, who keeps interrupting and causing the story to change. The narrative is told three times from different perspectives: the struggling pianist Anton, his slimy manager Alexander, and Anton’s daughter Moa.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time. Losing such a talented and cherished individual is a profound loss. May they find comfort in the beautiful memories and the lasting legacy he has left behind.

With best regards,

Armin Luttenberger
