ORF wins “TV Network of the Year” and receives multiple awards and nominations for its outstanding documentaries.

VIENNA – ORF-Enterprise is proud to share esteemed international recognition for excellence in documentary filmmaking. At the US International Awards 2025 in Los Angeles, ORF was named “TV Network of the Year” and honored with awards and nominations for the outstanding documentaries “Saalbach Hinterglemm – Where Nature Comes Out On Top” and “From Black to Green – A Chimney Sweep’s Journey”.

The “Universum Nature” documentary “Saalbach Hinterglemm – Where Nature Comes Out On Top”, a co-production by ORF and Interspot Film, was awarded Gold in the category Documentaries & Reports – Environment, Ecology & Sustainability. The film explores the delicate balance between wildlife and human needs in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, home to the 2025 Alpine Ski World Championships, and highlights the ongoing efforts to harmonize the co-existence of humans and wildlife.  

 

“From Black to Green – A Chimney Sweep’s Journey”, directed by Alexander and Nadeschda Schukoff, also received two Silver Awards in the Documentaries & Reports categories Environment, Ecology & Sustainability and Safety. This ORF documentary chronicles the evolution of chimney sweeps from traditional cleaners to key energy consultants aiding the transition to renewable energy while also exploring their origins, their symbolism as good luck charms and the significance of their Habsburg belt buckles.

The Wildscreen Panda Awards 2025 celebrate excellence in natural world storytelling across seventeen categories. This year, the ORF “Universum Nature” blue-chip documentary “Saalbach Hinterglemm – Where Nature Comes Out On Top” was nominated for the Sustainability Award. This nomination is both an honor and a testament to ORF’s dedication to impactful environmental storytelling and its ongoing efforts to raise awareness on sustainability issues.
